Bath Time
Since I came back from America it's been pretty much chaos in the house with several rooms in varying states of decoration. While I was away, the windows were done, a new boiler was fitted, the bathroom began to be stripped in preparation for a complete makeover and the fire in the back room was ripped out and replaced by a new one.
In recent weeks the bathroom has received more destructive attention with piping being removed, the carpet thrown out, tiles smashed off the walls and the ceiling lowered above the stairs to create more room for the new shower to fit. As the lowering of the ceiling required a huge gaping hole to be made in the bathroom wall, people could quite happily wander down the stairs and catch a full on view of anyone sitting on the can. Very dignified.
As the final tiles were removed from around the bath, it meant the sealant went too. The problem of water seeping down the walls surrounding the bath was solved with the very unceremonious addition of a black bin liner taped to the wall.
While I was away skiing last week, the plumber came in to start replacing the bath, sink and toilet. When I got back the only working thing in there was the toilet. This is where being a member of a gym comes in handy to use their facilities in search of a good wash. However, last night I didn’t get chance to head to the gym, which meant at 6:30 this morning I was having a wash in the kitchen sink. The plumber fitted the bath and sink today though, so now things are a little easier, but still no shower and it’s absolutely freezing in there! Hopefully it won’t be too much longer until it’s all finished; otherwise I’m going to be a pretty smelly and dishevelled looking guy for a while.
